A solo bike ride from Sydney to Perth in less than 10 days: Can Tristan break the world record?

Sunday, September 18, 2005

What is this all about?

A big bike ride. A REALLY big bike ride!

Tristan is going to attempt to ride his bike (yes a pushbike, not a motorbike!) all the way from Sydney to Perth in less than 10 days. Why less than 10 days!? Because that is what the current Guinness World Record stands at: 9 days, 23 hours and ?? minutes. This coast to coast ride will begin on Tuesday 27th September 2005 at Bondi (Sydney). Along with his support crew of 4, he hopes to arrive at Cottesloe (Perth) before the sun sets on Thursday 6th October 2005. So fingers crossed!! Due to the enormity of this event, Tristan thought he may as well do it for a cause. That's why his ride is going to help raise money for The Oaktree Foundation, a charity that's just starting to kick off here in WA.

So anyone can get involved by making a donation, coming to see us somewhere along route or just checking out what's going on here at http://bikerideacrossoz.blogspot.com.

You can contact Tristan and his team at bikeacrossoz@yahoo.com.au.

no. thats just silly. going to be great, and tristan will do it, and we won't crash any cars, and won't run over many, i mean any, wombats.

Good luck Tris and all your team from Mum, Dad and Natalie. Wish we were there to cheer you on your way but we will be thinking of you and keeping all our fingers and toes crossed - which may make doing anything else for 10 days difficult!!
